PALMDALE – A convicted child molester who disappeared from the motel where he was supposed to be living and failed to register as a sex offender was found hiding at his sister’s downtown condominium, officials said. John Czifra, 33, who was supposed to be living in a motel on Sierra Highway in Lancaster, was spotted Tuesday night in an alley outside the 10th Street East condo and ran inside, where officers eventually found him after he first tried to jump off a balcony to escape. “He was hiding under a pile of dirty clothes in the bedroom,” sheriff’s Sgt. Kyle Bistline said. Czifra’s sister was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant. Officials will recommend that the government rent subsidy that helps pay her rent be revoked because methamphetamine and marijuana were found there and she was letting a wanted parolee hide there, Bistline said.
