Officials urge harvest season safety

first_imgBatesville, In. — Indiana residents are still encouraged to watch out for farming equipment when traveling on the roads this harvest season.Ninety-two farm equipment vehicles (not including trucks) were involved in fatal crashes in the United States in 2016, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.To help keep motorists safe, Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, the Indiana State Department of Agriculture, Indiana Department of Homeland Security, Indiana State Policeand Indiana Department of Transportation ask drivers to be alert, patient and responsible when on the road.They also encourage Indiana residents to avoid tailgating farming equipment, watch for wide vehicles and only pass large, slow-moving machinery when in a passing area.For more tips to keep you and your family safe this harvest season, click herelast_img
