Everton injury news: Tom Cleverley could return in six weeks, according to Roberto Martinez

first_img Tom Cleverley Everton manager Roberto Martinez is expecting Tom Cleverley to return in six weeks after injuring his ankle against Tottenham last month. The midfielder had to be stretchered off during the goalless draw at White Hart Lane and it was feared he would face a prolonged spell on the sidelines. But speaking ahead of the Toffees’ clash with Premier League champions Chelsea this weekend, Martinez confirmed that Cleverley suffered minor ligament damage rather than a fracture. “It is hard to tell how long he will be out,” the Spaniard said. “With ligament damage you could expect six to eight weeks but knowing how strong and fit Tom is we’re looking at six weeks.“The scans revealed it was no fracture and it was only ligament damage and although it will be a long period it is not as bad as feared.” 1last_img
