Though the EXCEL award ceremony takes place on June 1 in Washington, D.C., Association Media & Publishing has already announced the 2011 winners. The 31st Annual EXCEL winners were picked from a pool of 1,100 entries submitted from non-profit organizations and associations. 196 winners representing 99 groups will be honored at the ceremony, which will be held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. Multiple award winners include Rotary International, which earned Gold in “Web Publishing – General Excellence” for its website, www.rotary.org; Bronze in the “Magazines: Design Excellence – more than 100,000” for The Rotarian; and nods in five other categories, including column and multi-media. Other winners who received multiple awards include the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association (AOPA) and the United States Marine Corps.See full list of winners here. IEEE, an association dedicated to technological innovation, will take home five awards, including Gold for IEEE Spectrum, July 2010 in the “Magazines: Single-Topic Issue – more than 100,000” category and Bronze for the June 2010 issue of IEEE Spectrum in the “Magazines: Cover Photography” category.
