Free help for children with orthopaedic problems

first_imgAROUND 500 children with severe orthopaedic conditions are being examined for free by a group of specialist doctors from the US.The examinations, which are taking place at the Nicosia General Hospital, started on Monday and will continue until Thursday.Orthopaedic doctors from the Shriners Hospital for Children of Springfield, Massachusetts visit the island every October as part of the agreement signed in 1995 between the hospital and the George and Thelma Paraskevaides Foundation.Health Minister Philippos Patsalis said all together around 8000 children have benefited from this cooperation and that arrangements have also been made for a large number of children to go Springfield for treatment.
